What’s Going On Here follows the continuing development of a new multipurpose community building in Stanwood’s Historic West End, on 270th Street NW fronting one of the last surviving stretches of Stanwood’s historic brick Main Street.
The project is transforming a vacant property in the heart of the West End into a lasting community resource while respecting the history and character of this distinctive part of Stanwood.
This website documents the project as it develops, with photographs, construction updates, planning milestones, and observations from the site. Visitors can follow the work from the engineered preload and site preparation through construction of the building itself.
Along the way, What’s Going On Here also explores the people, places, businesses, streets, and stories that shaped Stanwood’s Historic West End. Historical photographs, newspaper discoveries, maps, advertisements, and other features will continue to be added as the research grows.
